Wellington - Cable cars & Botanical gardens

We arrive in Wellington to be met with much cooler weather and quite windy. Book into a motel in Petone which is just outside the city. We then catch a train into the city, walk to the Te Papa museum and see the colossal squid which everyone here is raving about. However it made me feel very sad that it had died & was now in a glass case in a museum! We then got the cable car up to the Botanical Gardens and spent a couple of hours enjoying the views, plants and trees. Wellington is nice but a city after all. So we are heading for the South Island a day early. We get on the Interislander tomorrow morning at 8.30 and land in Picton at 11.30 when you lot should all be asleep.

Will try to get some more pictures loaded up when I get a bit more time. Apologies for the grammar & spelling but doing this in a rush as need to go out for dinner.

Speak to you from the South.

Poor old squid but I suppose it is educational! Did you enjoy the Te Papa? Guess you are on the South Island now, more bearable temperatures I hope.
Woke to a couple of inches of snow here this morning.
Look forward to more pics, it is so exciting following you on your travels.

we thought you had been typing under the influence!

where had Mr F disappeared to in Napier? presume you caught up with him fairly quickly!

it sounds like you are really hitting your stride now and seeing all the sights you had planned, with a bit of variation along the way.

Look forward to the next instalment: I might be able to read it from home. 4" of snow already and more to come so hopefully no work tomorrow (or is it today for you??)
