Marlborough - Wines Vines & a Cloudy Day for Cloudy Bay
We woke this morning to find it overcast but still warm enough to breakfast outside. First stop is Cloudy Bay Winery. We are not disapointed the wines are excellent but no Pelorus, they have sold out until the next production is releasd in March. Boo! Then Allan Scotts and up to Highfield with stunning views even in the rain, a super meal of rack of lamb accompanied by a 2007 Pinot Noir which I think is the best I have ever tasted. Ian had a Seafood Chowder as a starter, followed by blue cod with a Highfield SB, lovely. I have now given up tasting wines for today although I did spit most of it this morning. Isabel is our next stop one of our favouite wines at home and all the different varieties that they offer here are just as good. People are very friendly and eager to help and pass on knowledge about the wines & the vinyards. Wither Hills is the next port of call and they have a new SB called Rarangi available through the Wine Society, a must purchase. We take in the view from the upper balcony and then go down to the cellars with a glass of Pinot Noir (mine is just to get the aromas of the oak casks honest)despite the rain a great day. Off to plan what to do tomorrow now. Hope that you are all not freezing over there we have seen the snow on the TV must be chaos!

Fantastic! Beautiful photos and wonderful write-up. Delighted you are enjoying yourselves and seeing so much - can't imagine you will run out of things to do??
Snow has gone here but the south still has some. Hopefully that is the end of it.
I agree with the girls, great photos and write up - all so real!!
Sitting here with a cup of tea, watching the second bout of snow turn to rain.
Managed to get Cai to school today at 11am, but it was pretty hairy on quarry road, and especially on the hair pin!!!....worse coming back down the hill.
You are having the time of your lives, I am so pleased that you finally got to NZ, and this wont be your final one - more a start of a love affair with NZ??!!!
